Welcome to the first newsletter of 2021! Just when we thought 2020 was out of the way and we can look forward to 2021, BAM, t's lockdown part three. Well, we know how to do a lockdown now, heading into our third and we have some great things planned for you to take part in. Please take part in these events as it is a great way of getting members and friends together for a golf related chat and keep the you all connected.
As you know Malcolm retired in December and our new Head Greenkeeper, or Course Superintendant, Ian Barnard (Barney as he likes to be called) took over the second week of December. It was very sad to see Malcolm leave but I am sure you will agree, he left the course in good fettle for Barney. The first few weeks of his new tenure Barney has been doing a lot of walking around the courses raking bunkers and coming up with a few plans for course developments on both of our courses and related facilities. One of the only benefits of a lockdown, is that the greenkeeprs are able to have a free reign on the course and be able to do some of the more time sensitive projects made difficult by us golfers. I know there are plans afoot and as soon as I can confirm these I will let you know and of course take photos of the developing projects to keep you all in the loop. Some are very exciting indeed. Watch this space. Well, I hope you enjoy the read and I hope to see you on one of the many interactive projects we have planned for the next 6 weeks. |
A look ahead at what's to come... |
2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…
Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date, just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship! To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics! We hope you’re just as excited about golf in 2021, and if you’re itching to play your part then feel free to get in touch with any questions via the button below. |
