Hello Golfers,

A look ahead at what's to come...

Pro Shop update
We can still service your retail needs

With the challenges of 2020 being obvious, I am thrilled with how well the shop has performed in 2020 despite the problems. With the shop being fully open for only 7 months, the support you have shown your proshop has been quite exceptional. We pretty much turned over the same annual turnover as 2019 (which was a great year) in the time we were open in 2020. Astonishing. That is soley down to you, the members. You have supported your club with purchases and fittings throughout 2020 and we are going to need you again in 2021 for sure. The best bit about your purchases, is that all the profits are re-invested in your golf club for your continued enjoyment of the wonderful courses.

During the latest lockdown I have set up a couple of things for you to support if you would like some lockdown treats. Our Click and Collect service will continue to run and you will get a promotional email this week with regards where and how to shop with the online service we provide.

Secondly for the local member who may go for walks during lockdown, I have setup a market stall in the window of the proshop showcasing some of the wares we have for sale and all priced up. These can be ordered by emailing me directly and I will deliver them to the local area or put in my designated pick up spot at the club. The photos below show the stall ready for you to peruse, incidentally if anyone wants any of products on show in the photos just let me know.

Tee booking confusion
The rolling 7 day booking system

I just wanted to help a few of the members understand the booking system we have at the golf club and the restrictions we had to put in place.

Before lockdown we had to put in place restrictions on the amount of times members could play. We, of course, didn't want to do that but were forced into it by the shear volume of people wanting to play and the limited light during the winter.

We will look at the booking system over the next few weeks and as soon as we know when we can come back, we will look into what restrictions we will put in place and for what categories of membership.

IG booking restrictions are limited in their functionality. If we set the restrictions to 2 rounds it restricts all rounds on both courses. The system also only works on a rolling 7 day period. The seven days roll as the picture above suggests.

If you were to play on Wednesday 6th you wouldn't be able to book Monday 11th, marked 3, until the Wednesday 6th at 7:00am. This is because there is a round booked on Saturday 9th.

At 7:00am on Saturday, 9th you would be able to book another round, say Wednesday 13th.

What begins to happen, is the teesheets fill over time, rather than at 7:00am every morning. This will still of course happen if everyone chooses to play on a Tuesday in two balls, which incidentally is the clubs most popular day alongside Saturday.

Just wanted to make you aware with this text and diagram of how it works. Hopefully when we finally get back to the club in February, we will have approximately 16 additional teetimes each day to accomodate an additional 32 golfers per day. This should alleviate some of the issues we have been having with the popularity of the teesheets each day and we will look at increasing your ablilty to play.

Can I take this opportunity to thankyou all for your understanding during these difficult times at the club. We haven't done any of what we had to do in 2020 before and we have certainly been learning as we go along.

Walking in a winter wonderland
Galvin Green waterproofs - available through us

Well, we will all be trying to get out of the house for some good walks over the next few weeks, but they're a lot less enjoyable if you’re caught out in the rain. That’s why it is so important to have a waterproof jacket that really gets the job done.

Galvin Green’s Apollo Gore-Tex jacket does exactly that, and with a flourish; giving you complete waterproof protection, a stylish look and freedom of movement in your swing. Now that’s happiness, Mr Norman.

Video of the Week

Every good round of golf requires a bit of luck, be it a favourable bounce around the greens or a preferable lie off the fairway. Sometimes it is far more extreme, as this highlight reel from the European Tour showcases. Enjoy.
