Hello Golfers,

Welcome to this week's newsletter. This one will be a bit shorter than normal to make sure everyone knows what is going on around the re-opening of golf at Littlestone.

I am sure you are all aware that we have mow been given the green light to open once again and kick start the end of the year celebrations. It has been another difficult period of closure and I am sure you are all itching to get back onto the golf course. Rest assured when you do return, you will be pleased with the works that have been completed and how great the courses are looking. More of that later on, but for now, enjoy the read and I will see you all very soon.

 
The return of golf at Littlestone

Following the recent Government announcement regarding the reopening of Golf Courses, we are pleased to confirm we will be open from Wednesday, 2nd December 2020. The following information and rules have been put in place to ensure fairness and opportunity for all those wishing to return to the Club.

Online and Telephone booking will be open from 7.00am on Monday, 30th November. Any anonymous bookings made will be deleted 48 hours prior to play.

Littlestone Golf Club - December 2020

Members and members guests only - 2 and 4 Balls (See normal restrictions below)
7 day in advance bookings
Maximum of 3 tee times per member per 7 days, Monday to Monday
Full Members - No further restrictions

Associate (Fairway) - Bookings after 9.30 am only as per rules – Pre 9.30am only accepted by exception with DoG using one of credit rounds

If availability exists for the following day members can book additional rounds outside of the above restrictions – this can only be booked over the phone with the Pro Shop Team

As a reminder, the following are the agreed winter tee restrictions which remain in place:

Mondays                        2 balls until 11 am

Tuesdays                       2 ball golf all-day

Wednesday                    2 balls till 9.30 am

Thursday                        2 balls till 11 am

Friday                             2 balls till 11 am

Saturdays                       2 ball till 12pm (unless competition entries exceed viable numbers and three balls will be introduced)

Sundays                         2 balls till 11 am

Littlestone Warren Golf Club – December 2020

Members and members guests only before 9.30 am – First week only
Visitors after 9.30 am
Up to 4 balls
7 day in advance bookings

Competitions on both courses will continue as arranged from Saturday with the usual booking facility.

We await official guidance on the opening of clubhouse facilities.  We understand further clarification will be made later this week and we will communicate again as soon as we have details.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the courses.  All previous social distancing rules remain in place and we ask you to follow these showing consideration for staff and other golfers. This includes wearing a mask in the proshop and any inside areas.

 
First tee off Auction

As a bit of fun and to try and boost the coffers into the Captains' Charity, you may have noticed in the tee booking for our first day. I have setup the first teetime to be auctioned off. 

If you want to be the first two ball on the course after lockdown you can bid for this tee time with me below. I have had a few bids already so be quick the auction will end on Monday. 

The Captains' Charity this year is CARM.

Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh
A local charity reducing loneliness and isolation
working across Romney Marsh, Tenterden and parts of rural Ashford. 

For anyone who has elderly relatives or knows anyone for that matter, the subject of lonliness is a real issue and one close to my heart too.

So please bid generously for this UNIQUE opportunity.

Course news

I have to say the courses are looking great for your return to the links. Malcolm and his team have done you proud. With a few other projects still on the go, the winter will see us continuing to improve our great golf courses under the watchful eye of the new Course super, Ian Barnard ( or Barney as he's known).

I did get the chance of trying out the mowers last week to help Malcolm. Exceptional growth is still going on even at this time of year when there is supposed to be none. For those of you who didn't catch the event click here to view the live cast I did of the mowing I completed. Great fun even if a little wet and cold. 

Just a small reminder that the collection for Malcolm's leaving present, after nearly 40 years of service, is still being collected by Sheree in the office. Click below if you want me to pass on the info to Sheree to debit your club account. Any gesture would be greatly appreciated for a Litttlestone Legend.

Pathways looking great

The pathways took a battering over this year and the transformation has been amazing. This is the 5th from the tee, it was bare and shaley now a lovely grass pathway awaits you all. Tread carefully.

Our new on course bins

Our all new on course bins have now been installed. Many thanks to the 100 Club for helping finance these wonderful additions to the course furniture. I am sure you agree they fit in really well with the surroundings.

Like carpets

The tees have recovered really well during the lockdown and left us with carpet like tees ready to be spoiled by golfers !!!!

Going the distance

It’s fairly well-documented that your golf balls won’t travel as far in cold weather and will stop faster on soft ground (it’s a good excuse, at least!). However, there are solutions to help get your ball as far down the hole as possible this winter.
