I am sat here looking at a wall of boxes and wondering what to do first. Our move has been completed with little hassle but lots of emotion and were ready to start again, again! I have of course been keeping up to date with all the goings on at the

Hello Golfers,

Golf's back on UK soil

World Handicap System and us

With the changes of the handicap system well on the way to being active, I thought it important to go through what the Handicap Committee's responsibilities are for you the membership.

It is important to first of all note that it cannot be the responsibility of the club professional to run the committee and its decisions. There has to be an elected Handicap and Competitions Committee. Each section will have a representative and a Chairman will sit and run the meetings. Here are the responsibilities of the cimmittee as of the 2nd November, after the launch of WHS.

Every golf club is required to have a Handicap Committee. They play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the WHS. Handicap Committee members should have a good working knowledge of the new WHS.

The Handicap Committee role can be summarised as follows:

- To record, maintain and update the Handicap Index of their members
- To notify members of any changes to their index
- To ensure all acceptable scores are uploaded
- To take responsibility for reviewing the handicap record

Handicap Reviews and Competition T&Cs

Results from a competition should be processed promptly, on the same day, to ensure scores have been entered correctly. However, the WHS does not rely on a competition being closed to update handicap records. Prior to events, it is advised that every Handicap Committee publishes their own terms of competition. This will include dates, frequency, entry process, format of play, handicap allowance, tees used, process of deciding ties and other information. Full details are available in the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf, Committee Section 1B and 5A.

Did you know?

The Handicap Committee can set entry criteria to competitions based on the Handicap Index. For example, the Club Championship is only open to players with a handicap of 10 or less. They also have the discretion to create segments of their members based on their Handicap Index in order to award prizes to players of different standards.

Weekly results from Littlestone GC

It has been a great week of golf once again at the club and here are a few of the results for you to look at:

Warren:

Vets Winter Trophy R1
Ian Goacher - 40 points

Ian wins on a countback from Brian Longman and Peter Smith. It may well have been a differnt story for Ian starting twith a double and quad in the first two holes. He held steadfast though and proceeded to have nine three point scores in the rest of the round. Well done Ian for sticking at it.

Men's Bogey Competition
Julian Hope - +5

Another great round for Julian and another win after his July winning streak. With eight pars and a birdie on the 5th it's only a matter of time before an ESR is triggered for this in form player.

Ladies Tuesday Stableford
Linda Ellse - 33 points

Another win for 2019's best player with a trophy haul to envy. Linda had a par on three of the four front nine pars threes and goes to show once again if you play the par threes well you usually have agreat round. Well done Linda.

Championship:

Ladies Club Championship
Barbara Down - Nett 76

Many congratulations to Barbara on winning the big one. Barbara has worked very hard on her game over the time I have been here at the club and it is great to see her win the big one. Hard work and practice does pay off Barbara. Well done indeed.

Ladies Weekend Stableford
Liz Jones - 30 points

Only hardy golfers needed to have played on Sunday with the conditions being suited to fish. Wet and windy awful conditions was only ever going to suit our hardiest golfer in the club. Liz practices hard and plays in all conditions, so well done for sticking with it. It takes a strong mind to play in those conditions.

Men's Weekend Stableford
Dibran Zeqiri - 31 points

Again, being played in not particularly nice conditions, Dibran stuck it out to come in with a very respectable score in poor golfing weather. Dibran birdied the first and had an outward nine of +1 and in those playing conditions it was a great front 9 for sure. Keep it up Dibran, those new clubs must be working.

Men's Tuesday Stableford
Tim Williams - 38 points

What a great score from new member Tim. With birdies at the 1st and 6th and an outward nine of minus 1 and 23 points, there was only ever going to be one winner. Turning into the wind certainly put pay to a 45 pointer but a great score nonetheless. Well done Tim.

Vets John Holman Trophy
Trevor Semadeni - 36 points

Many congrats to Trevor on his win. With six, three point scores and 19 points on the back nine, a well deserved win of this prestigious vets trophy ensued. Fit as a butchers dog springs to mind with Trevor, as I can attain to for sure, having played racket ball with him.

Many congratulations to all our winners this week and please make sure you play in all the competitons we have in place for you this year as it is you that makes it all works so well.
