Welcome to this week’s newsletter from a wonderful sunny day here at the links. The sun is out and the course is looking stunning in the morning sunshine. The mowers are out and the rollers are rolling the greens, ready for another day’s play. Over the last week, the greens have really come along with the surfaces on both courses looking and playing pure as anything I have seen. Last week, I was playing the 14th and was left with a humdinger of a putt. After hitting a 6 iron to the centre of the green to four feet (very pleased with that) I walked up the green and was faced with a knee knocker down and across the green. I was genuinely worried of de-greening the putt from four feet. Thankfully, I holed out for a well earned two but if it hadn’t hit the hole, it was a goner. Great fun and a shot that really made you think about what you had to do and of course what you should not. There are no major works planned for this week coming and there is just a few general maintenance bits happening. These will be completed based on what sort of weather we get in the next seven days. I do have a request from Malcolm and several members to ask you all. Could I ask you to please pick up your broken tees after you have hit your teeshots. Please put them in your pocket and place them in the bin when you have finished. We fully understand why people are not picking other peoples tees bits up at the moment, but I would ask that you all pick up your tees and deposit them in a bin at the clubhouse. The other alternative is to throw them into the deep rough. Thanks in advance as it would really make the tees look a lot neater than they do currently. |

The UK Swing begins The British Masters finally gave European Tour fans something to cheer. Whilst the Tour had technically resumed with a couple of weakened fields in Austria, this was the first ‘proper’ European Tour event since lockdown began all those months ago. Renato Paratore was the eventual winner, with the young Italian going 62 holes before his first bogey on the 9th in the final round. Paratore’s incredible golf came at a soggy Close House course, hosted by Lee Westwood, in the first of a six-tournament “UK Swing”. This week, players high enough in the World Rankings can choose between the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational or the English Open. Next week, it will be a choice between staying put for the English Championship or heading to San Francisco for the first Major of 2020; the PGA Championship. Things are about to get interesting! If the European Tour restart has given you the golf bug once again, you can speak to us about professional coaching by clicking the button below or calling 01797 363355 opt1. We’re here to help! |
