Exceptional scoring once again this week

As I eluded to earlier in this week’s newsletter, it has been once again been a great week for golf at the club. The quality of the golf being played is nothing short of astonishing. You can find a list of this weeks winners below.

Warren:

Vets Stableford - Brian Longman: 43 points. A great score from Vets Captain Brian who has been working hard on his game on the range regularly. Goes to show practice really does make perfect.

Mens Stableford - Julian Hope: 43 points. A very steady round with a nice birdie on 13th to help the cause. A nice two shot cut to the handicap also for Julian.

Ladies Stableford - Mary Miller: 38 points. With a triple bogey start, Mary came back well with plenty of pars on the card.

Championship Links:

Ladies Stableford - Susie Gottelier:- 37 points. Good scoring in difficult conditions and a two on the 14th, well done Susie.

Ladies Weekend Stableford - Annie Weighton: 38 points. Having worked very hard on her game, Annie should be pleased it's coming together. Good scoring with a great three on the testing 9th.

Men's Weekend Stableford - Ciaran Higgins: 40 points. Certainly in a rich vein of form with two wins in two weeks. A eagle at 7 certainly helped the cause. An exceptional scoring reduction could well be on the cards for this in form player.

Men's Tuesday Stableford - Neil King: 43 points. What a round from Neil. With five birdies on the card a one over par round was a great score. Well done Neil and a large handicap cut is on the way.

Junior Stableford - Harvey Sladden: 41 points. Finally, a score befitting the quality of this player. After a small tune up on the putting green and a chat about planning a round, Harvey certainly smashed the course with this scoring. Birdies at 4,9, 11, 12, and 18 ending up with a level par round is certainly some top scoring for one of our young guns. Scratch here he comes.

Artisans Stableford - Colin Curtis: 40 points. Good scoring from a serial winner and with a birdie at the 9th it was certainly a good score in hard conditions.

A special mention goes out to our best player in the club Jamie Guppy. With a handicap of now plus 4.5, almost plus 5. He started his round on Saturday with a set of 6 straight birdies and a birdie at the last for a gross 66, quite simply superb scoring. Well done Jamie, keep it up, we would love to see you break the plus five barrier.

Looking at how good the scores are coming into the scorers hut, it made me think about how good we really are as a club as a whole.
