Welcome to this week’s newsletter. Once again, we have had a hell of a week of weather that’s for sure. It seems that the weather deteriorates during the day at the moment, as the mornings are wonderful. Yesterday’s sunrise shows in warm detail how lucky we are to live by the sea, the colours are an artist’s dream. |
The courses are holding up surprisingly well at the moment and although we have had some growth problems on some of the fairways, with a bit of dry weather we should expect a bit of a growth spurt in the coming months and be back to a fine covering of turf in no time at all.
Enjoy the rest of this week’s read.

On the Course...
Even with conditions continuing to be a bit of a problem, competition golf has been going along nicely and here are a few selected results for you.
Warren: All Warren competitions cancelled due to conditions
Championship: Men’s Stableford - Paul Brown - 35 points. Men’s Tuesday Stableford - Ciaran Burns - 38 points.
As you can see, there have been a few competitions played but not to our usual levels. To everyone who played, well done and keep up the great golf ready for the new season just around the corner.
Artisans Winter League - Colin Curtis - 27 points

Artisans Presentation Evening
The Artisans had their Presentation Evening on Saturday and Emma and I were lucky enough to be invited. The meal was lovely and the company excellent as always. The presentation of prizes seemed to be a bit of a ‘Groundhog Day’ with Sam Allaway doing his best boomerang impression picking up a bounty of trophies on the night. Special thanks to the President and in particular Mrs Tate who presented her brothers' trophy to Sam Allaway, a beautiful miniature claret jug. Here are a few photos of the evening and one of Sam and the evenings' bounty. A word of advice, don’t play Sam for cash, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask. |

Thanks for reading this week’s news and I look forward to welcoming you back to the links (hopefully drier) very soon. |
Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
| Tension whilst gripping | Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
|
| Limited time offer in-store now | We know it sounds all doom and gloom, but it does make a huge difference to your game. That's why we're running this promotion at Littlestone Golf Club, so you can experience the benefits of a new grip first hand.
There’s no catch, just pop by the shop before your next round to take advantage. |
