Welcome to this week’s newsletter from a very wet and windy, but happy links. Well, what a week of weather that was. We were quite lucky really with not much damage to report. The practice nets rigging was destroyed over the weekend but we have now fixed it so it’s available to use again.

We are sorry we have had to close the Warren course on a few occasions this week, but if you have been out and had a look, you’ll see why. Everywhere on that side is totally waterlogged and the damage we would do isn’t worth the risk for a limited field of players this week wanting to brave the terrible conditions Anyway, let's pray for a bit of respite from these awful conditions but also be thankful we really have had it lucky compared to the majority of golf courses in the UK.
With all these terrible conditions, one of our members Clem decided to send in one of his superb artworks for us to look at. It depicts links golf in the UK, perfectly.

Enjoy the rest of this week’s read and if you have any video requests or any requests at all for that matter, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Happy golfing one and all, stay dry and stay competitive. |
On the Course...
There have still been some great scoring when we have been able to get out onto the course. Here are a few selected results from both courses. Warren: All Warren competitions cancelled due to conditions
Championship: CL Ladies February Medal - Liz Jones - nett 84 (good score in simply horrendous conditions) CL Men’s February Stableford - Andrew Weight - 35 points (brilliant score) CL Men’s Tuesday Stableford - Dibran Zequiri - 38 points CL Vets Buzz Hodge Trophy - Stuart Fullager - 36 points
Many congratulations to all who played this week and a special mention to Graham Burton who narrowly missed out on Tuesday with a second place in terrible conditions. With gusts of up to 45 mph, I must admit I did see Graham stroll in with an air of a superb score, only to be deflated when looking at the results on the PSI machine. His old nemesis Dibran had come in with a score of 38, pipping him by one again. Hard lines indeed for our most improved player of 2019.

What's in the Bag?
Thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to show support for the videos we are doing here in the Pro Shop. We are looking to develop these week on week and here’s the next one I have been asked to do.
We often, as pros, get asked what clubs do we use. So, here’s what is in my bag this season and why I set my bag up in the way I do. Enjoy the watch.

A recent golf survey highlighted some very interesting statistics regarding golfers' habits and their equipment, two of which you can see in the image below. |
These stats might not mean a lot to you at face value, but the general recommendation is that you change your grips once a year, especially if you play regular golf. The truth is, grips lose their efficiency over time and when they do we end up gripping the club too tightly, which restricts our ability to swing the club freely. Just something for you to think about... | |
|
It's not only important that your grips are regularly replaced, but you need to ensure you get the correct sized grips. Our FREE grip fitting promotion has just started in-store and we recommend everyone giving it a try. Call us on 01797 363355 opt1 to take advantage. |
