Welcome to this week’s newsletter. The courses are suffering a little bit from this constant rain but we’re doing our best to try and get them as playable as possible for this time of year. It has been an astonishingly mild winter so far and the flora, fauna and wildlife have been very confused by the change. I have seen daffodils in the first week of January on the verge next to my garage at home and I did notice the other day some Crane Fly Larvae on the course which has been tricked into coming out early and dying in the cold evenings. If you've ever wondered why we have so many birds on the course at the moment, this is the reason why, as birds love the Larvae. You could liken their appetite for these as similar to a Sumo wrestlers’, penchant for sushi in high volume. Anyway, these will soon pass and it's looking good for the coming season. Just look how this path from the eight tee on the Championship has recovered, bear in mind 10 weeks ago, this path was all mud and compacted ground. Enjoy the rest of this week’s read. |

On the Course...
Competition golf is still thriving in the winter and here are a few scores to take a look at: Warren: Vet’s January Stableford - Peter Morgan. 37 points (new driver in-play from the Bargain Bin) Men’s February Stableford - John Harman - 36 points (another win to John's tally)
Championship: Ladies Stableford - Sue White - 32 points (great win in tough conditions) Men’s February Medal - Stephen Eggleston - nett 69 (excellent performance in tricky conditions) Men’s Tuesday Stableford - Stephen G Hill - 35 points (freezing conditions and made even better after only recently returning from SA)
Well done to all of you who have won this week and to the rest of you, maybe it’s time to talk to the Littlestone coaches to give you a bit of help? With over 80% of people in the Top 10 of all competitions receiving regular one to one coaching or group coaching, it really does help. Thanks once again for turning out for the competitive events we put on and long may it continue to prosper.

Exciting times ahead
As you are now aware, Bruce is leaving on Sunday, 23 February and we are putting some things together for him, as a bit of a farewell bash. As soon as I have some finalised details, I will let you all know of what is occurring and I am sure you would all like to thank him for his time with us here at the club. Watch this space. As for Bruce’s replacement, we are, of course, unable to replace him, but as for someone coming in and taking over his job, I am restructuring the shop and the staff. I have done some interviews and I am in the final stages of announcing our new member of staff. I am sure you will all welcome the person in question as warmly as you did me when I started here, now over two years ago. Exciting times ahead. There are some really cool things coming up over the next few weeks and I have a special announcement to make about an all-new initiative I will be launching at Littlestone. I can’t give too much away at the moment, as I am still in the latter stages of applying for funding but it will be a great thing for people to get involved with. Watch this space as this will be a game-changer for golfers and professionals (of a certain age) to improve health, wellbeing and their golf as well as becoming a part of a very special secret club.
Thanks for reading and I will hopefully see you all very soon down at the club. Happy golfing one and all.

New drivers, irons and wedges seem to hog the limelight around this time of the year but they would be nothing without a ball to hit. Although often a little overlooked, having the right ball in your armoury is going to give you a big advantage out on the course. |
| Callaway's ERC Soft with Triple Track alignment
|
|
If you're someone who draws a line on their golf ball for putting, Callaway's Triple Track alignment may well be right up your street.
The three lines are adopted from something known as Vernier Visual Acuity, which is the same science behind guiding planes to land on aircraft carriers.
|
That makes it sound rather complicated but essentially it'll help you to line up your putter more accurately every time. Remember, we are always on hand to help advise you with your game so pop in anytime and whilst you’re at it, grab a box of Callaway’s ERC Soft balls.
