Well, the sun is shining, and the clouds are parting but there’s a storm a coming! Doesn’t look too good for the rest of the week weather-wise with storm Atiyah hitting the coast Today (Wednesday) and for the next few days. We are certainly getting our fair share of water over the last week which is great for keeping the water table high. This high-water table and a core ground temperature of over nine degrees, is still good for growing grasses and amazingly, as I am sure you have noticed, it’s still growing.
The Christmas season is well underway and with the Warren Vets having had their Christmas party and the first of the Championships Christmas lunches having been last Sunday, it is now a run down to the big day in two weeks. I am now coming up to my second anniversary of being at the club and I have to say I have loved every minute of it. I have been welcomed and supported without question in everything that I have wanted to do and from both myself and the Pro Shop team we want to thank the membership and guests for supporting what we are trying to do at this wonderful club.
Emma and I were lucky enough to be invited to lunch last Sunday by the Captain, we had a lovely lunch and I finally was able to experience the 12 days of Christmas bobbing. Here is a short video of the finale, great fun and a pleasure to be a part of (sorry for the camera moving around, I was one of the geese a laying).

New signage
With the weather being a little unpredictable at the moment and frosts having become a little more common I have come up with an idea to give people the information they require to make the decision to stay and go out or go home. As we know, we do not play when there is a white frost and how quickly that clears varies massively. From now on, I have had made two signs that will give you the information you need. The sign will be put on the first tee on the Championship facing the WEBCAM and has the time of the next course inspection on it giving people the chance to see when the inspection is due. There will also be one placed outside the XIX to give the information to the Warren members who cannot see the one on the 1st tee on the Championship or have access to the webcam. Captain & Pro Jamboree
This Friday, sees the Captain & Pro Jamboree being played, good luck to all who is playing and with a full field its set to be a great day’s golf. Anyone who hasn’t put their name down and wants to play let us know and we will see what we can do in getting you a game. |
SafeGolf
As you may have read in last week’s mail, I referred to the SafeGolf Accreditation I have been working towards and finally achieving. This week, we have also been accredited as part of the women in golf charter which Sarah has been integral in getting over the finish line. We are currently the only club in Kent to have these accreditations and sets us apart from the rest in our support of golf in the UK. For those of you interested, click here to view an article about us in Golf Business news this week and all the efforts we have been putting in to really put Littlestone back on the map. The future is very bright for us all.

Exciting new projects for 2020
As I have mentioned in these mails before, I am currently in the process of planning a lot of next year’s coaching activities. It’s very exciting some of the plans we have, for all the membership and visitors. A digital booking platform will go live in the new year where you will be able to book all coaching online, make yourself available for group coaching sessions and book into our special coaching education and improvement events.
If you aren’t sure of what to expect from the coaches we have here at Littlestone, we now have a coaching menu in the Pro Shop where we have bios and pricing for each coach so the student can see who they would like to help them with their games. This will also be made available to all on the digital platform.
As a team of coaches, we are committed to helping you with your games, each of us specialises in certain parts of the game and we would be happy to advise a coach that suits your needs. Starting in April, one Friday every month will be a Club Night. This will be free of charge and will be a booking only event online, two hours of coaching by the Pro Shop team and some food afterwards (food pricing to be confirmed). It’s all very exciting so watch this space.
