Welcome to this week's newsletter. Well, the sun is shining and the rain has stopped for a little while. |
The good news is that all this rain and warm ground conditions have made it perfect for all the works we have been doing on the courses. The overseeding programme is now almost finished and we are pleased to confirm that it has up to now been a great success.
Thank you to everyone for their comments about the use of the mats, it has gone relatively well with a few glitches here and there, in the main most people have been happy with the change. Having said that I have been a few divots here and there so please be reminded it is not optional, it is mandatory so please don’t forget to take out a mat with from the first tee. Just a gentle reminder to you all that the mats should be used on the tees as well, unless you are using a driver.
The next stage of the course works will be the bunker regeneration project. Quite a few of you have been making me aware of problems in the quality of the bunkers and I can confirm they are being looked at in the winter months and will be sorted in the current plans for works on the course. The green staff are busy with the other jobs right now but they will be moving onto the bunkers shortly, so please be patient.

Inspiring the next generation
I have had some enquiries about Junior Golf and the development of this in the coming months. As from Wednesday, 1 January I will be taking a more active role in the Junior Coaching at the club and the structure of this will be finalised during the run-up to Christmas. We will be launching the all-new England Golf's Junior Passport in the new year and this will be used to help junior golfers get into the game and develop as players and valued members.
We will be trailing a few ideas over the coming months and the first of these sessions will be run by myself for four weeks from Saturday, 16 November for four weeks. This is for the Junior team players and the juniors we have who have active handicaps. The cost is £25 for four weeks (£6.25 per week) and is subsidised by England Golf. In these sessions, we will be looking at developing skills using TrackMan Golf and SAMPuttLab sessions and preparing the team for matches in the new year. |
This session will be popular so please put your child’s name down quickly as I only have 8 spaces for these sessions. Contact me here to reserve your place. We will be looking at creating a more structured approach to coaching your children and giving them access to the most experienced coaches knowledge, in the hope we can create some great golfers who love the game and will move through to County level and even National level training.

Thanks for reading this week’s news and I look forward to seeing you all down at the Links very soon. |
In 2018, only January saw more rainfall in the UK than November. Not the happiest of stats to highlight, but one that shows the inevitability of being caught in a few downpours this month, making a waterproof and spacious bag vital if you want to tackle the unpredictable British weather. |
| Titleist Players 4 Plus StaDry Stand Bag | The name of this lightweight bag says all you need to know when it comes to its waterproof ability. Add in seam-sealed zippers to protect your personal belongings and six spacious pockets, and we think you'll be hard-pressed finding a better option.
|
| Titleist StaDry Cart Bag | Its big brother equivalent has the same waterproof fabric but in a more spacious cart option. We know plenty of you enjoy using an electric trolley out on the course, and we think this might well be the perfect bag to go with it. |
