Who remembers Edoardo Molinari’s famous slow play tweet back in April? To refresh your memory, the Italian published a European Tour slow play list after being disillusioned with a round that took five-and-a-half hours at the Trophee Hassan II tournament. It caused much uproar and once again highlighted the issue of slow play. This is an area golf’s governing bodies are taking seriously and even introduced a new recommendation that a player should take no more than 40-seconds to play their shot once they have reached their ball. Ready golf is also encouraged in strokeplay, meaning players should play their shot when they are ready rather than adhere to the ‘farthest from the hole plays first’ rule – just make sure to agree this with your playing partners before heading out.
