Hello Golfers,

With mixed weather and some serious rainfall, the course has really come alive. The grass is growing faster than we can cut it and it’s almost impossible to find the ball, let alone play it!!

Well with the weather being so unpredictable it has been lucky we have had one of our quieter weeks competition wise here at the club. Here are a few results from the competition schedule this week.

Smooth Greens

We are keeping our greens super smooth at the moment and we would like to keep it that way. After having a lot of rain over the last week, pitchmarks are now becoming evident on the greens and I ask you to make sure you repair at least two pitchmarks on the greens even if they are not your own. If we want to keep our greens running as smooth as they do in this video taken on the 17th hole on the Championship we need to keep on top of our pitchmark repairing.

New Range Machine

Our new range machine will be arriving this Friday and hopefully now we will have zero problems with dispensing of the balls. The prices will be as follows:

Member Token - £2.50
Visitor Token - £3.00

Digital Range Card - £5.00

5 Credits (£2 per vend) - £10.00
15 Credits (£1.33 per vend) - £20.00
50 Credits (£1 per vend) - £50.00

Please be aware of the range rules situated on the entrance to the range. Please do not go out onto the range to help yourself to range balls, under any circumstances. It may have been the case in the past that the machine was faulty and this will no longer be the case. If you are hitting balls and a ball goes over towards the 1st or 14th on the Warren course you MUST shout fore in line with the etiquette of the game.

If there are players playing either of the holes bordering the range and then enter the range to play their shot, you must stop playing balls and await the players to move to a safe distance before you start again. If the range is being cut by the greenkeepers the range is closed until they are finished. They cannot hear shouts of fore over a cutting machines engine noise.

I have also got a few new balls to put in the new machine and these will be fed into the system over the next few weeks.

Back to basics

There are any number of online tutorials giving you the 'perfect advice' as to how to cure a specific problem you may have with your game. However, the key to solving most issues in sport (golf included) is to go right back to where it all began - the fundamentals.

Always check the fundamentals

The way you set-up to the ball writes the script for the swing. This may be one of the more basic elements to the game but yet it is also one of the most overlooked – and that can be dangerous to your scorecard.

Jack Nicklaus once said:

"If you set up correctly, there's a good chance you'll hit a reasonable shot, even if you make a mediocre swing. If you set up to the ball poorly, you'll hit a lousy shot even if you make the greatest swing in the world”
