Hello Golfers,

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. It has been a week of indifferent weather and it really has been quite chilly on the coast with 2 layers certainly needed. According to the forecast though it seems we have some warm weather on its way to us shortly. We certainly need a bit of warmth to help the grass grow, now that we have had a bit of wet weather.

Well it has been a very busy week of competitions here at the club in all sections. Here are a few of the results from a busy week.

The Championship Artisans

The Whiting Trophy 4BBB Winners– Lee Weatherhead & Sam Alloway with a whopping 47 Points

A very well done to all who took part in this week’s competitions and please keep playing in as many events as possible it really helps making the club a success.

A quick note for the Championship members, please make sure you have signed up for the bank holiday Monday foursomes, Rawcliffe Cup. I need as many teams as possible this year so please support this cup as its one of our oldest. Please look at all future competitions and if you can please enter as it really makes a difference.

You may have noticed I have put a bit of info in about the Artisans. If you don’t know we have an Artisan section who play both courses in return for a membership fee and hours given to the club to help with all things green. For those of you who may not know the Artisans were formed on the 1st June 1933 after a meeting at the Station Hotel. At that meeting they elected D Carey as the Captain, Chairman and Secretary. The Artisans played their first match against the main club and won by 8 matches to 4. If you have a look below you can see a group of our Artisans divoting last week.

I will be joining the next divoting party on the 23rd May at 6pm if anyone wants to join myself and the artisans.

Winter Rules

Please be aware that winter rules will be finishing on the 30th April. There will be no extension of the rules in Kent and we will not be applying for this from England Golf. Please inform any of your playing partners of the change and inform anyone who may not read these emails that there has been a change in the winter rules application.

Captain’s Drive In

Last weekend we welcomed the new Captain’s to the Championship links with their drive in.

This year’s Lady Captain is Sheila Stirling and the Men’s Captain is Andrew Rodgers. Both are keen to make their years about fun and golf so please make sure you support all they intend to do and make it a fantastic year for their charity.

This year’s Captains charity is The Fifth Trust, a charity helping children and adults with learning difficulties. They make some amazing wines at their vineyard and I can highly recommend the sparkling wine as it really is delicious.

100 Club

The 100 club has had its latest draw on Saturday at the AGM dinner and the winners are as follows:

Well done to all winners and if you're interested in becoming a 100 club player please let us know and I can get you signed up for what is a great cause and for some, very profitable.

We now have Oakley sunglasses in-store and we have had a great response already to a really innovative product.

With the hay fever season starting why not get some glasses to help?

Also with Oakley’s patented PRIZM technology it changes and heightens the green spectrum of colours enhancing the greens we play on. It is like cheating how good these are to help you with green reading they are so good I have actually bought a pair to go over my glasses just to read the greens.
