Marks Journey To The PGA Professional Mark began his professional journey mid-august 2018 after being fortunate enough to have played in World Championships in California, British Amateur Championships and other prestigious Amateur Championships. After competing as an elite amateur for over 15 years nationally and internationally, achieving a handicap of +4 and in 2014 and 2015 being ranked 6th in the country, he felt it was time to start a slightly new route that allowed him to gain a better understanding of custom fitting, club making and developing his passion for helping golfers achieve their personal goals.
Mark has completed all his year one assignments with excellent results and will be taking his PGA exams at the beginning of May. All going well he will begin year two at the beginning of September. Over the next few months Mark will be working closely alongside myself and Bruce to develop his coaching skills and with fellow assistant Jake Horrocks in progressing the Junior section at the golf club providing regular coaching days at weekends and within local schools. Over the summer Mark will be competing in PGA south region events, Pro-AMs with members and will be taking part in Open Championship regional qualifying in June at Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks, alongside fellow head professional Bruce McDonald. If anyone is free to support them in their quest to gain a place in the 148th Open Championship at Royal Port Rush please come along on Monday, 24 June at Wildernesse Golf Club, then again the following week at final qualifying at Princes Golf Club. Friendly faces and local support could make the difference. Mark has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Golf Operations team at Littlestone Golf Club for the past year. He would like to thank the members for such a warm welcome and making his job at the golf club a thoroughly enjoyable one.
