Housekeeping Bunkers Here’s a little bit of information for you all now and some housekeeping. Firstly, bunkers. Where do you put the rake? Now I would like to try and get some continuity into where we place the rakes once we have visited one of golfs dreaded hazards. Now there isn’t really an industry standard for rake placement but I would like to try and create one for us here at Littlestone. What I would like you all to do is one of two things: 1) Place the rake in the centre of the bunker away from the sides. 2) Leave just the handle on the edge of the bunker on an angle. More than anything, use your common sense and put the rake in a position where you would want to see it when you go into a bunker. There is nothing more frustrating than going into the bunker and finding your ball against the rake at the back of the bunker. Pitchmarks
One other bit as well is the pitchmarks. We still have relatively moist greens and pitchmarks are again abundant. I know I preach about this a lot but even if you haven’t made a pitchmark please find one and repair it and come spring we will see the benefits of greens as smooth as glass. Thanks in advance. Course traffic
One final bit of course talk is something I was thinking about this week. Our tees here on both courses have a lot of traffic and are relatively small in comparison to other courses. So what I have started to do myself is play from the yellow tees when I am not playing anything too serious. It is only a small gesture but if we spread the wear and tear over all tees, I am sure our white competition tees will improve in condition as a consequence. Something to ponder. |
