Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly newsletter bringing you all the latest news, events and offers from here at Littlestone Golf Club.

With frost delays a plenty and the beast from a direction unknown arriving soon, the down jacket is back out and hand warmers are selling fast. The course is still looking great for this time of year and the greenkeepers are busy with bunker work on the main course and general maintenance on the Warren. The Warren was top dressed yesterday and dragged in during the afternoon so should be nice and flat for golfers this week and more importantly "dry".

Competition news

100 Club

A further £575 was distributed last week when the 100 Club January draw took place. The result was: 1st prize - Shirley Mansfield - £285; 2nd - Martin Brennan - £200; 3rd - Nicola Johnson - £90.

Next month is the much anticipated roll over draw, when over £2000 will be in the prize pot. There are 4 prizes to be won which are estimated at around; £800, £600, £400 and £200. There is still time to sign up to be included in the draw and 100 Club Application Forms can either be downloaded from the website or collected from the pro shop.

New Arrivals

In shop news I have some good news. After 12 months of trying I have finally agreed a deal with Under Armour to become a flagship store. This means that in the back end of this year we will be a premier stockist of all things Under Armour, a bit of a result for us as UA are no longer taking on new accounts in the UK and they have made an exception for us. We can expect the full autumn/winter range to arrive in September 2019.

We have now sold out of the 2018 Pro V1 balls and we will be getting our first delivery of the new Pro V1 this week which has lots of new stuff inside the ball which I can’t wait to try out. Interestingly the Pro V1 has never been made in yellow. The reason being the cover used in the past was never able to accept the pigments for the yellow ball and they have now cracked it. I have ordered up a lot of this ball as I can guarantee this will sell out in the UK in weeks. Pre-orders have already taken up 70% of what I have ordered so if you want some be quick as I don't have many left. For me personally, and my terrible eyesight, I can’t wait to be able to see the ball take off again!! Even if I know it’s going down the middle :)

Both the PING and Callaway fitting equipment should arrive next week, I am assured by the manufacturers. There has been delays in pre-production and we are down the list a little bit, but it shouldn’t be too much longer for those of you enquiring about fitting sessions. Please bear with us.

Latest Updates

A little bit of housekeeping. Once again please ensure you repair at least one pitchmark on every green and rake the bunkers after you have been in them. When replacing a rake in a bunker please ensure you put it in the centre of the bunker or lean just the handle on the edge so most of the rake is in the bunker, and if the ball goes in, it isn't stuck at the back of the bunker.

We have had a few instances of illness and injury on the course recently and I am asking anyone who feels unwell or needs assistance please don't hesitate in ringing the pro shop and we will come and rescue you as quick as we can. Don't be embarrassed or try not to be trouble, at the end of the day it’s a game of golf here and our members and guests health is far more important.

Coaching news

Group Coaching

For those of you who expressed interest in the group coaching sessions I have two spaces left for the 4 week mixed ability and gender course. It starts on Tuesday 12th February at 10am and runs for 4 weeks every Tuesday at 10am. The cost is £39 for the 4 weeks.

Please let me know if you would like to reserve your place as these are really popular and won’t be available for long.

Sad News

For those of you wishing to pay their respects to member Brian Evans, who sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago, I can confirm the funeral arrangements are as follows: 1.20pm Tuesday 19th February at Charing Crematorium.

A celebration of his life will follow at Littlestone golf club. Brian will be making his final journey to Charing Crematorium from Littlestone golf club should you wish to follow the cortege. Any donations you may wish to make please make them to the British Heart Foundation.

Finally, there are still spaces for the Sunday lunch at the Littlestone main clubhouse and if you wish to go please contact the main bar for details and to make a booking.
